On Sunday, TiE Organization announced the winning female entrepreneurs of the "TiE for Women".
TiE Global Entrepreneurship for promotion and encouragement, today announced the winning female entrepreneurs of "TiE For Women" initiative, a global initiative dedicated to empowering emerging women entrepreneurs around the world. A large group of startups in various countries participated in the competition for the first place, including Australia, Egypt, India, Singapore and the United States of America. To mark the occasion, the United Arab Emirates, as a global center for innovation and business development, hosted the closing ceremony to announce the results, which was held at Dubai Knowledge Park.
TiE Women Awards aim to encourage emerging women entrepreneurs around the world to hone their skills and showcase their potential in the business world. This year, the competition saw promising entries from more than 2000 female entrepreneurs from around the world, including valuable entries from brands based in UAE and the MENA region
Among entries, 26 companies and entrepreneurs were invited to participate in presenting the main concept of their companies before a jury consisting of a group of prominent personalities in this field. Accordingly, the jury evaluated each presentation based on a set of rigorous criteria which included: company idea, added value, global market opportunity, competitive advantage, operational and technical feasibility, capabilities of the management team, financing and exit strategy, and finally the strength of the presentation as a whole.
After evaluating the participating companies and entrepreneurs, awards were presented to three companies:
- Medical technology startup Inochi Care from TiE Calcutta - India, won first prize of $100,000,000 for developing a versatile wound healing device.
- Ahammune Biosciences Private Limited of TiE Boon - India, which specializes in remapping dermatology market, won the second prize of $25,000.
- WeavAir, a startup from New York - USA that provides software solutions and proactive devices for air distribution systems that helps prevent the spread of infection and air pollutants while saving energy and reducing operating and maintenance costs, won third prize of $10,000.
TiE Global aims to make its mark in expanding the entrepreneurship ecosystem, which means creating active and flexible platforms in the United Arab Emirates, such as 'TiE for Women', 'TiE University Competition for Female Students', 'TiE Hassel', and 'TiE Mentoring' a program designed with a special focus To provide mentorship and guidance to startups in the region. It is very cool to see the achievements of these valuable female entrepreneurs in the business world. I would like to take this occasion to extend my warmest congratulations to the winners of the "TiE International Women's Competition", including the companies that reached the short list to honor us with their valuable contributions and for what each of them provided for inspiring other women interested in launching their companies.
The second edition of the TiE Women's Registration Initiative will open in February 2021. Registration is open to companies founded or led by women entrepreneurs.
